How to set up Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)

Two-factor authentication provides added security to your account. When activated each time you log in, a unique 6-digit code is sent to your email to verify it's you. It's an extra layer of security to help prevent unauthorized access to your Ko-fi account.

Enable 2FA by clicking Account Settings and select Set Up Now.

Choose between codes being sent to your email or to be generated by an authentication application like LastPass or Google Authenticator.

How to Activate Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) via Email Token

Select Email and your confirmation code will be sent to your registered Ko-fi email.

Use your 6-digit code to verify the setup of 2FA.

If You Don't Receive a Confirmation Code

Request another code to be resent and check your email's spam and junk folders.

Remember that your code will be sent to the email registered to your Ko-fi page. The registered email can be found in your Account Settings page. 

If you still have not received the code, raise a support ticket.

After verifying your page, each time you log in, you will be prompted for your 2FA code which will be sent to your email.

If You Don't Receive a 2FA Code

Make sure that you have set up 2FA correctly (see above). 

Request another code to be resent and check your email's spam and junk folders.

How to Activate Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) via Authentication App

Go to Account Settings and select Set Up Now.

Select Authentication App and you will be prompted to scan your Ko-fi QR code or input your secret code into your authenticator app.

When setting up your authenticator app, you will be prompted to scan a QR code or to manually add your secret key.

When added, you will be prompted to verify your account by entering a confirmation code generated by your authenticator app.

After authorizing your authenticator app, you will be prompted to secure your account via a mobile number in case you lose access to your app.

Enter a valid mobile number and receive a text with a 6-digit code to verify your mobile.

I Did Not Receive My SMS Code

Resend the Confirmation Code by using the "Resend the text message" button. 

Remember to check that you have enough coverage to receive the text, if you do not have enough coverage, you will have to wait to enable 2FA when you have better coverage. 

If you still have not received the code, raise a support ticket.

After entering the code, your account will be verified.

If You Don't Have Access to Your Authenticator App

Request an SMS to recover your account. 

A 6-digit SMS will be sent to your account which you can use as your code. 

Remember to check that you have enough coverage to receive the SMS code, if you do not have enough coverage, you will have to wait to recover your account when you have better coverage. 

If you still have not received the code or lost access to get an SMS code, raise a support ticket.

Remember after logging in to your account to disable 2FA and set it up again with another authenticator app.

Frequently Asked Questions

I have lost access to the email registered with my Ko-fi account?
Try to regain access to your email or set up a new Ko-fi page.  If this isn't possible, raise a support ticket including your old Ko-fi email and the new Ko-fi email you would like to register.
My Account Has Been Compromised/ Hacked?

Please raise a support ticket.

How to disconnect 2FA? 
Head to Account Settings and select the Cog Icon then select Disconnect.
