Create discount codes & sales
Discount codes and sales let you offer a percentage discount on your entire Shop, specific shop categories, specific shop items, or Commissions.
Say thank you to your supporters, reward your members, or give your Shop a boost during holidays and seasonal events.
A discount code works for anyone who clicks your discount link or enters your code at checkout. Discounts can also apply automatically to all monthly supporters or to specific membership tiers. A sale is even simpler: the discount applies automatically to everyone who visits your Shop or Commissions, no code needed.
Discount codes and sales can both be scheduled with a start and end date, so you can set everything up ahead of time.
Create a discount code
Set up a discount code in just a few steps:
- Go to More > Discounts and click Add discount.
- Choose who gets the discount: by link & code, all monthly supporters, or a specific membership tier.
- Choose Shop items or Commissions. For Shop items, pick all items, specific shop categories, or specific shop items.

Set your discount:
Your code can include letters, numbers, a period, or a hyphen. Codes are automatically converted to uppercase.
Percentage discount must be a whole number from 1 to 100 (no decimals). No need to add the % symbol.
Start date is optional. Leave the start date blank for the discount to work right away, or pick a future date to schedule it.
End date is optional too. Without an end date, the discount never expires. Discounts end at 23:59 in your time zone on the end date.
- Click Create, and your discount is ready to share! You can edit or delete the discount at any time.
Start a sale
A sale applies a percentage discount automatically to everyone visiting your Shop or Commissions. Buyers don't need a code or link, and discounted prices show on your page while the sale is live. Sales are perfect for flash sales, seasonal promos, and short-term offers.
- Go to More > Discounts and click Start a sale.
- Give your sale a name if you'd like, e.g. "Weekend sale".
- Choose Shop items or Commissions. For Shop items, pick all items, specific shop categories, or specific shop items.
- Set the Percentage discount as a whole number from 1 to 100.
- Optionally, add a Start date and End date.
- Click Start sale, and you're all set! ✨
Note
Only one sale can exist at a time, including scheduled sales. To schedule a new sale, wait for the current sale to end or select End sale. To offer different discounts at the same time, use discount codes.
How buyers can use your discount code
Buyers can use your discount code by clicking a shareable link or by entering the code at checkout.
By shareable link
Anyone who clicks your discount link gets the discount applied automatically to eligible shop items or commissions. A message confirms the discount, and prices update to show the savings.
By entering a discount code
Buyers can type your discount code at checkout when Let supporters enter a code at checkout is turned on. The setting is in the Advanced section at the bottom of the Discounts page.
When this setting is off, buyers can only use a discount by clicking your discount link. The setting doesn't affect sales or member discounts, which apply automatically.
Note
Discounts apply to commission add-ons but not to shipping costs.
Share a discount code or sale
Every discount comes with a shareable image showing the percentage off, what the discount applies to, the code, and your name.
- On the Discounts page, select Share on the discount you want to promote.
- Pick a color for your image: dark, cream, blue, or gradient.

Share your discount:
Download saves the image to add to your own posts.
Copy link copies your discount link. Anyone who clicks the link gets the discount automatically.
The Facebook and X icons share directly to those platforms.

How discounts work for monthly supporters & members
Set up a discount for all monthly supporters, or offer one as a perk for joining specific membership tiers. A members-only discount is a great way to say thanks for sticking around.
Members don't have to do a thing. Discounts apply automatically to any relevant item or commission while members are logged in.
Note
Disabling a membership tier in your Memberships settings stops new supporters from joining that tier, but current members of the tier keep their discount benefits. Deleting the tier removes the discount for everyone in it.
What if a buyer is eligible for more than one discount?
Only one discount applies per order, so discounts and sales don't stack.
- Discount links and codes override automatic discounts. A buyer who clicks a discount link or enters a code at checkout gets that discount instead of any active sale or member discount, even if the link or code is a lower percentage.
- Otherwise, the highest automatic discount applies. For example, if a 15% weekend sale is running and a member has a 10% member discount, the member gets 15% off automatically.
Tip
To make sure your members always get the discount you intended, avoid running more than one automatic discount for the same membership tiers at the same time.
Manage or end a discount or sale
To end a discount early, select Edit and update the end date. To remove a discount completely, select the three dots > Delete, then confirm. A deleted discount stops working, and anyone who tries to use it will see "Sorry, that discount code is not recognized."
To end a sale early, select End sale on the live sale row at the top of the Discounts page. Select Edit to change a running sale.
Can I offer a discount on a single item?
Yes! When creating a discount code or sale, choose shop items, then select the specific shop item you want to discount. The discount only applies to the items you select.
Tip
In your Shop settings, select the three dots on a listing > Create a discount. The discount form opens with that item already selected.
How discounts work with "Pay what you want" products
With "Pay what you want" turned on, buyers can choose to pay more than your minimum price. A discount only applies when the buyer pays the minimum price. If the buyer chooses to pay more than the minimum, the discount doesn't apply.

No. Discount codes and sales don't apply to shipping costs.
Discount codes can be used again and again until they reach their end date or are deleted. Usage limits aren't available yet, but each discount shows how many times it has been used.
Yes! Set the Percentage discount to 100. This works for digital and physical shop items. If a physical item is discounted to free and shipping is also free, the buyer checks out without payment and only enters shipping details.
Yes. Set a future Start date when creating the discount code or sale, and the discount goes live on that date.
