🔗 Connect your Ko-fi page to Google Analytics

Link your Ko-fi page with Google Analytics to learn more about visitors to your page. Find out where they’re coming from, which of your posts get the most views and much more. Use this information to make your page and content even better.

How to connect Google Analytics to my Ko-fi page

You'll have to create something called a Data Stream. This lets Google Analytics keep an eye on your page. You'll get a special code called a Measurement ID. Paste this code into your Ko-fi page settings. This helps Google Analytics see who's visiting your page and what they're doing.

  1. Head to your Google Analytics Dashboard
  2. Look for the Admin Button Screenshot on the bottom left
  3. On the right, under Property, click Data Streams Screenshot
  4. Click "Add Stream" and select Web Screenshot
  5. Add in your Ko-fi URL for the Website URL(e.g., ko-fi.com/yourusername)
  6. Enter a Stream name, which can be your Ko-fi username
  7. Copy your Measurement ID
  8. Go to your Ko-fi Page Settings 
  9. Scroll down to the bottom and paste in your Google Analytics ID/ Measurement ID there.

That's it! Within a few hours, you should start seeing data in Google Analytics.

 

What can I use a Google Analytics data for

By linking Google Analytics to your Ko-fi page, you can open up a world of possibilities.

Here are just a few examples:

  1. 🌍 Perfect timing for your posts: Use viewer traffic by country data to schedule your content when your audience is most active. Increase views and engagement by sharing your posts at the best time.

How do I find my Google Analytics ID

To find your Google Analytics ID:

    1. Head to your Google Analytics Dashboard
    2. Look for the Admin Button Screenshot on the bottom right
    3. Under Property, click Data Streams Screenshot
    4. Select the stream you want the Google Analytics ID for 
    5. The Measurement ID is your Google Analytics ID

  Tip

The previous "Tracking ID or Universal Analytics property" was formatted with a 'U-12345". Make sure to use your Google Analytics 4 ID (formatted as "G-12345") to utilize the latest updates. For more information, refer to Google's help article here.

 

What if I don't have a Google Analytics account

If you don't have a Google Analytics account yet, follow these steps to sign up:

  1. Go to Google Analytics and set up your new account. 
  2. Enter an Account Name, which can be your Ko-fi username
  3. Input a Property Name, such as "Most Popular Posts" for tracking purposes
  4. Type in your Business Details, including your Industry and business size
  5. Choose the relevant Business Objectives
  6. For Data Collection, select Website
  7. Add your Ko-fi URL as the Website URL (e.g., ko-fi.com/yourusername)
  8. Copy and use your Measurement ID
  9. Paste it into your Page Settings on Ko-fi

Within a few hours, you should start seeing data in Google Analytics.
