How to use Ko-fi with Substack
If you're looking to increase your income from your Substack, Ko-fi can really help! For readers who aren’t quite ready to subscribe monthly, Ko-fi is a great low-pressure way to support you. Here are some examples and how-to's to get you started.
Add your Ko-fi link to your homepage
Substack lets you display links on your publication homepage so readers can easily find you on other websites.
To add your Ko-fi link to your Substack homepage, simply go to:
Settings > Website, then click ‘Edit’ next to ‘Homepage links’. Tap ‘Add Link’ and fill in the details:
- Title: Ko-fi
- Subtitle: [Your desired subtitle]
- Group: Support
- Link: [Your Ko-fi page link]
Then click ‘Add Link’. That’s it!
Add a button to your articles
Add a custom button or download one of our Ko-fi buttons to include in your posts! At the end of every post, readers will see a call to action to support you.
Custom button
- When you're writing a post, click Buttons.
- Choose Custom.
- Add your chosen text and your Ko-fi link e.g. ko-fi.com/supportkofi.
- Click Ok.

- Download a Ko-fi button image from our brand assets.
- Add the button as an image to your post.
- Highlight the image then click "cmd + k" (mac) or “ctrl + k” (PC) to add a link to the image.
- Paste in your Ko-fi link so the image links to your page.
Or simply add a text link to the bottom of your articles prompting your readers to check out your Ko-fi page!
